Employment History

Leah’s early work background began from rehabilitation nursing, specialising in the orthopaedic, spinal injury and head injury rehabilitation units of Hampstead Centre. She had been involved in the planning and implementation of home care services for people living in the community with a disability as a founding director of SA’s first private Home Care Service. This then extended to the development and training of employment preparation programmes for people with disabilities for DEET before transferring her skills to the provision of return to work services as an accredited provider for WorkCover, ComCare and GWRCO in SA since 1995.

Leah is a member of both the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors and South Australian Rehabilitation Providers Assoc.

Areas of Special Interest

Leah had developed sound working relationships in the hospital, nursing and nursing home environments in addition to allied health services including cleaners, medical orderly, portering and catering services. Manufacturing, Education, Shipping and Transport industries have also benefited from her experience.

Employment History

Ian began working with the rehabilitation industry in 1987 and was a supervisor and manager before entering private practice as a consultant. Over the next 17 years Ian contracted in to some of South Australia's largest self insured employers and has also worked as an Injury Management Adviser within the insurance industry. With a wealth of experience, Ian is able to ensure a quick assessment of needs and tailor an approach that ensures a resolution is achieved for all parties.

Areas of Special Interest

Ian has extensive experience with return to work services for pre injury employers as well as particular expertise in the job seeking field. Self Insured employers, both private and government, continue to appreciate Ian's energetic and involving approach to rehabilitation. Ian has also written and presented training programs through TAFE and has a passion for training and mentoring staff.

Employment History

Alex is a Senior Workplace Rehabilitation Consultant at Insite. He has 5 years experience working in vocational rehabilitation and employment services.

Alex has had experience delivering specialist vocational rehabilitation services to the Australian Defence Force, Employers Mutual Limited and to major employers within the automotive industry. Alex has worked as a Job Capacity Assessor conducting Job Capacity Assessments for the Dept of Employment and Workplace Relations. In addition, he has worked as an Employment Consultant in the Job Network industry. A background in psychology has allowed Alex to provide behavioural management support to children in school environments. He continues to provide suicide intervention support for Lifeline and the Domestic Violence Helpline.

In addition to having worked in workers compensation rehabilitation since 2002 managing a caseload of injured workers, many of these long term claims with complex needs including psychological illness, poor educational attainment or language barriers to achieve the best possible outcome in terms of a return to work with their pre-injury employer, new employment or a finalisation of their claim, Minyonne has held a variety of positions within the recruitment industry (job network) and retail sales. Her recruitment expertise has provided a broad industry knowledge as to the type and availability of employment in the labour market as well as a wealth of employer contacts.

Areas of Special Interest

Minyonne has expertise in services including return to work management, early intervention, job seeking and employment transition. Her social work studies have prompted an interest in working with clients who have complex needs to develop innovative solutions to facilitate a return to work.

Following university studies, Marnie was employed in retail management until 2007 when she commenced as a Workplace Rehabilitation Consultant, specialising in transition to new employment. Marnie has experience managing complex and long-term claims, and in all aspects of the job seeking process, from job matching to interview preparation and post-placement support. Marnie has been involved in developing and implementing job seeking programs aimed at empowering clients to make positive changes to achieve their goals. Since commencing with Insite, Marnie has expanded her skills to include pre-injury return to work services, with a focus on fostering an integrated approach to accomplish a timely and sustainable return to work outcome.

Areas of Special Interest

Marnie's background in remedial massage, sports psychology and sports training lends to a keen interest in fitness and exercise, as well as injury prevention. Employment History

Paola graduated from social work in 1996 after which time she worked as a drug and alcohol counsellor for approximately eight years.

In 2004 Paola chose a different career path where she has been able to transfer many valuable skills and commenced working as a Workplace Rehabilitation Consultant. She has found the transition both a challenging and exciting new role. Paola demonstrates particular strengths in motivating difficult clients through the experiences she developed in her previous role.

Through Paola’s training and work history she has been able to develop her networking skills within multidisciplinary professionals enhancing positive outcomes for individual case plans.

Jane joins Insite with a vast work experience in social and behavioural science occupations. She has many years of experience counselling from rape crisis through to career counselling and tutoring. She was most recently working as a project officer in the Medical & Rehabilitation Management Project at the Motor Accident Commission enhancing her research, negotiation and stakeholder liaison skills.

Jane has upheld many management positions understanding first hand the rehabilitation process from an employer’s perspective.

Her mediation training and experience is an invaluable asset offering the injured worker and their employers the benefit of this approach when developing a sound return to work plan.

Areas of Special Interest

Jane is particularly interested in further developing her mediation skills with specific interest in the rehabilitation needs of the client with stress related disorders. Jayne commenced work in the industry as an Injury Manager in the hospitality industry in 1997, completing her accreditation as a Workplace Rehabilitation Consultant with an independent rehabilitation company in 1999. Her injury management skills have since been fortified through positions as Rehabilitation Advisor, OH&S Manager and Human Resources Manager in a variety of industries including retail, transport, government, and medico-legal. Whilst working as a Rehabilitation Advisor for a WorkCover Insurer for three years, her core role was to review complex and long term claims, liaising with all stakeholders to define and implement mutually agreed strategies within clear timeframes with measurable outcomes. Throughout these roles, Jayne has worked with a variety of industry professionals and medical practitioners to develop and facilitate national training programs in injury management, including courses in claims management, rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries and psychiatric illness.

Jayne's experience in human resource roles and as rehabilitation advisor has developed her skills in complex claims, particularly those with associated work performance/industrial relation issues. Prior to vocational rehabilitation, Karen was a Special Education Teacher within various high schools and proceeded from there to work with Woodville Spastic Centre and HETA in preparing programmes of social adjustment and living skills for the brain injured and children with special needs. Karen continued to expand her skills working with outpatients at Hillcrest Hospital in a vocational education and employment programme. It was from there that Karen commenced work as a Workplace Rehabilitation Consultant. Karen also worked within WorkCover in Long Term Claims.

Karen has extensive experience working cross a variety of industries, most recently specialising in stress claims with Department of Education and Child Services and return to work services for Nursing Association of South Australia. Barbara has a sound employment history in retail, marketing, and administration, bringing a diverse working knowledge of both industry practises and demands in these areas. Through her Degree in Social Sciences (Counselling) Barbara participated in a project for the Office of Ageing, defining individual programs for aged community members to socially reconnect with both their families and the community. This project fortified her skills in programme planning and goal setting; measuring actions and outcomes whilst maintaining inclusive stakeholder relationships. Barbara has further consolidated her counselling experience through her work at Life Design Counselling Centre, and brings a broad depth of skills to the workers compensation industry in return to work services.

Amanda recently joined the Insite team after completing her Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy). Occupational Therapy has helped her to understand the importance of employment and rewards returning to work bring to life. Throughout her studies Amanda has worked in a variety of settings including paediatrics, men's health, aged care, physical and mental disability, acute psychiatric and community development both in the private and public sector.

Amanda's employment history also spans retail, travel, hospitality, childcare, administration and health care throughout rural and remote Australia and internationally. These experiences have brought a rich understanding and appreciation for the complexities of workplaces and the relationships within them.

Adele completed her physiotherapy studies in 2002. She then worked in a private practice setting both here in Adelaide and in London, UK. During her time as a private practitioner, Adele developed a special interest in the treatment of headaches and enjoyed empowering patients to take an active role in their rehabilitation. Adele joined the insite Injury Management Team in 2008 and is able to use her past clinical experiences and the completion of her postgraduate studies as a catalyst to developing a 'global' view to rehabilitation and developing strong working relationships to obtain optimal results.

Working as a clinical physiotherapist for 5 years, Adele has naturally developed a strong interest in musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation, ergonomics and biomechanics. Anne graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1980 and has worked in the fields of Hand Therapy, Orthopaedics and Spinal & Neurological Trauma in the U.K., Canada and Saudi Arabia. From 1995 Anne also worked for a multi-national healthcare company providing clinical skills, marketing and training focus for under-graduate and post-graduate O.T.s, Physiotherapists and sales personnel in the U.K. and Australia.

Anne has worked in the Occupational Health industry since 2000 and applied to become a service provider to the Workcover Corporation in October 2001.

Previous experience within community care roles and completing home assessments extensively for government bodies and private sector means Huong's has a diverse skill base.

Employment History

Ben graduated as an Occupational Therapist in 1995 and has worked in Occupational Health for the last 15 years working for both the private and public sectors. He has worked for a variety of different industry groups including manufacturing, residential care, public and private hospitals, farming and the hospitality sectors. Ben is also an accredited FOCUS and EPIC trainer, running certificate training courses for local and interstate occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

Employment History

Lee joins Insite with experience working in the Vocational Rehabilitation industry, Acute Hospital setting and in the Community Health setting. In these roles Lee has worked with clients with a variety of conditions, including neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, cardiac, respiratory and palliative conditions. Lee has recently returned from working in London, UK where she was able to further her experience of working with clients from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Her interest in evidence based practice ensures that Lee maintains a current knowledge base to enable her to achieve best outcomes with clients.

Areas of Special Interest

Lee has a focus on client centred practice and empowering clients to actively participate in their service delivery. Other areas of special interest include Activities of Daily Living assessment and Job Analysis.

Employment History

Judith is a physiotherapist with 25 years of clinical experience that has spanned the public, private and vocational rehabilitation sectors. She owned her own specialist physiotherapy practice between the years of 1999 and 2006 where she specialised in the management and rehabilitation of upper limb conditions and post surgical management. Judith’s extensive clinical experience, in particular, in relation to the shoulder, elbow and wrist, provides an excellent basis for understanding injury pathology and prognosis, management and recovery time frames, which are the strengths of her Job analysis, Activities of daily living and Ergonomic analyses.

Areas of Special Interest

Judith remains very interested in occupational upper limb conditions and overuse syndromes.
